Visits to support the RE curriculum
Members of the Church are invited into Crofton School to share with pupils what their Christian faith means to them and how they came to faith. Others are invited in to assist with the teaching on such subjects as Marriage and Baptism - this sometimes involves actually 'role-playing' a ceremony with the children - something they love doing! Church members also help out on RE school trips.
Visits for School Assemblies
The Vicar and occasionally others are involved in assemblies in many of the local schools, especially around Christmas and Easter.
Assisting with reading and school governing
Some of our Church members are involved on school governing bodies and some on school PTA's. One or two help out as assistants in the classroom, often hearing children read. This is an area we would like to develop more, to support schools staff.
School Christian Union
There is a very active Christian Union at Crofton School which we as a Church support by helping with occasional meetings and hosting occasional weekends. We aim to prayerfully support all Christian staff involved in local schools either in a teaching or other capacity.
