We are a team of four couples, all ordinary members of the congregation, but each having a heart for marriage and choosing marriage preparation as a way to serve our church and the Parish. We've all been married for some years but still remember well the early days of finding our feet in our relationships. We have discovered and survived many areas where a relationship can be at risk, and offer to share that experience with couples approaching their wedding so some of the pitfalls can be avoided. Of course, we are also concerned to make sure the wedding day itself is a very special occasion, and offer as much assistance as we can to smooth the way for a happy day. Initial wedding administration is done through the church office at Holy Rood Church. If you wish to make a booking, or have an enquiry, please phone the office on 01329 661154 Couples who have booked their wedding at Holy Rood or St Edmund's are invited to an informal two-session preparation course (on a Friday evening and Saturday morning of one weekend) together with three to five other couples being married about the same time. This course covers not only the wedding service but also many other topics relevant to marriage. Couples do sometimes feel nervous about attending these sessions but, almost without exception, they find it useful and enjoyable. The courses are run by Richard and Ruth Craigie, Malcolm and Karyl Lewis and Barbara and Carl Rufenacht. Course administration is dealt with by Erika Wilkie.

If you are a member of our congregation and would be interested in joining our team, please do contact us. If we can increase the number of couples on the team it would be good to consider work with couples already married to enhance relationships or arrange more marriage-orientated social events but at present there aren't enough of us to take on this additional work.
