THE JOSHUA HOME GROUP

JOSHUA is a home group of 13 mature people ( average age in late 50’s ) with six couples and one lady.
The group is led by Dave and Pam Etherington.

We meet weekly for Christian fellowship; our meetings are conducted in a very informal atmosphere where we share each other’s joys, troubles and worries. The members believe in preserving and encouraging an environment of trust in the Lord where we can share openly our feelings.

The Joshua group’s aim is to further our knowledge of Jesus Christ and the Bible through structured study with healthy and challenging discussions.

We enjoy ‘Praise and Worship’ – our singing is compensated by enthusiasm for our lack of ‘tunefulness’.

Prayer plays an important part of our meeting, a regular feature is praying for our children and grandchildren where each of them is mentioned by name. Prayers are also said for the known sick and bereaved and contemporary issues.

Joshua has a pastoral link with ‘Solent Cliffs’ Hillhead care home for the elderly. Members of the group conduct a mini service bi-monthly on a Sunday morning. We sit and talk to the residents to give them encouragement and a listening ear.

We meet in each other’s home on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 to 9.30; occasionally we enjoy a social evening with a meal or a BBQ.
