Baptism marks the beginning of a journey with God as He is revealed in Jesus Christ. It is a journey that should continue for the rest of your child's life. As such, Infant Baptism is a special service for the children of committed, practising Christians, a clear expression of faith in Jesus within the context of parenthood and the ongoing life of the church community. Together we commit to support your child on this journey.
You and your nominated Godparents, who must have been baptised, will be asked to make very specific promises in the presence of God at this service, including the promise to follow Jesus Christ, to nurture your child in the Christian faith, and to teach them to worship God by regularly bringing them to church.
Your child will be baptised with water and you will be presented with a Bible, a candle, and a certificate as mementos of their welcome into the ongoing life and worship of the Church.
In preparation for Infant Baptism, on the Tuesday evening prior to the service, you and the Godparents will be invited to the home of a church member to meet with the Minister, to plan the service, and to discuss more deeply the promises and responsibilities that come with having your child baptised into the Christian faith.
Infant Baptisms in Crofton Parish are held on a monthly basis* at one of the following three services:
| Time | Venue | Style of Service | Services per Year |
| 9.30 a.m. | Holy Rood Church | Contemporary informal | 5 |
| 11.10 a.m. | Holy Rood Church | Traditional informal | 3 |
| 9.30 a.m. | St. Edmund's Church | Traditional formal | 2 |
You are very welcome to choose the service that will best suit the needs of your family. However, please bear in mind that the dates of these services are set in advance and that it may not always be possible to give you your first choice of date/venue.
* We do not normally hold baptismal services in August or December
